I ground off the leading edge of the magazine floor plate 'cause it hurt my rather large hands, but I only did it on one of mine as I didn't want to bugger up good mags. If they're already broken then I don't mind hacking them up further.Of the 4 magazines that came w/ my 2 P-64s, two have had the leading edge of the plastic floor plate broken off. Will have to look for replacements.

Yes, I tried that. I'm kinda used to shooting with index finger on trigger (of course), middle and ring fingers around the grip, and pinkie curled up under the base of the mag or bottom of the grip if it's a revolver. That's how I shoot small handguns.

I bought a couple of mags with those same instructions. I bought them off of ebay right after ebay announced they'd quit selling gun parts. 
Anyway, they do misfeed a bit. I haven't worked on getting them broken in yet. I imagine that the rounds cycling are working burrs or imperfections off of the inside of the lips and the leading edge.
Edit: I just looked at the keepshooting.com text. They say that the original P-64 mags are old & worn out. I think I just got mine broken in! I don't think my pistol had been shot much at all before it was mothballed.

Torpeau, I picked up a mag off of ebay a while ago and had nothing but aggrevation with it until I performed the break in detailed with the mag... load one, shoot one, load two, shoot two etc. Then the mag worked well for a while I might have dropped it or bumped it into something...it never fed the same again...P.O.S.!
I ended up breaking it into parts and tossed the mag itself as the lips that feed the bullet kept bending ever so slightly and seemed to bend back and forth with more and more ease. This also happened when I had a problem with the 20# recoil spring and the slide get stuck open a coupel of times and I'm sure that added to the damage to the top of the mag as well.
