Ammo buy?

Post by rlj102468 »

Would it be worth while to get a group of members in an area to pool together to buy bulk ammo? I am running alittle low on Mak rounds, but would like to do a large purchase to save some bucks.
Talk it up and see if it would be capeable, and maybe we can plan something.

I am guessing it would have to be guys in the same area. One guy could order, and then split it when it came in. That way there is no shipping costs to distribute the goodies.

Norm,

I've become interested in the basics of reloading. I have a Master Catalog of reloading equipment, but have no idea where to get started. A brief rundown on the essential equpment would be immensely informative for myself and any other reload newbies. Thanks,

George

The first thing you need is a up to date reloading manual or two
LYMAN just came out with their 48th edition reloading handbook http://www.lymanproducts.com/lymanproducts/index.htm
also you can get free ones from here http://data.hodgdon.com/main_menu.asp

I suggest you get THE ABC'S OF RELOADING 7th edition

any question you have give me a call my phone # is at the bottom of this post
http://p64.proboards67.com/index.cgi?bo ... 1179953781

or can email me your phone # and I can call you

off topic but related, I was surfing around looking for ammo when I came upon this site selling American Eagle 9x18 they said

"If you like punching a lot of holes in paper, you'll appreciate the value in the American Eagle line of ammunition. It's made to provide you with maximum fun at minimum cost."

maximum fun at minimum cost? they were selling a box of 50 for 24.00 plus shipping! that's over .50 per bullet!!! what a ripoff!

Trent,

I know, I've seen that advertisement from them! LOL! ;D There are a bunch of people out there in America, though, that know absolutely nothing about the ammo market, and never look anywhere but mainline American retailers for ammo, and they jump on that thinking they're getting a deal.

this goes along with the last post but also is a warning for all who might need it..
however before that.. we all look for good prices on ammo but did you notice the great deal it is to shoot our ammo as compared to the "popular stuff"
Now warning..
I went to Wal Mart a couple of months ago to pick up some 38's .The clerk(aka manager) handed the 38s and the deal was done. ok so what is the moral of the story.
Look before you buy. Why because he gave me a box of 38+P . I happened to see the + P and only because of the Taurus I had recently bought (82B) and our thread I had recently heard about it. Boy thank you to this site. OK so I am not up to date on certain stuff.
I asked the clerk what it meant , answer was scary, he did not have slightest idea. Thought it was maybe a brand thing. All the 38s on shelve were +P s .Scary uh...
a note, most new 38s will handle +p s on occasion and some all the time. but some older wheels just can not

I have shot some of the newer MFS ammo I got from SOG and it functions great but was very dirty... :'(...I don't think too much of the 9x18 ammo is very clean shooting anuways... :o...at least not the stuff I shoot. Barnul, Silver Bear, MFS, Sellier and Bellot (which I think is the cleanest).

That is a cool old box! $15 !! :'( Holy crap!! I get pissed when I can't find ammo for under $10 delivered!

I just bought 17 boxes of Silver Bear from someone who sold off his Maks and had it hanging around...$150 delivered...that was a very good price for me as AIM that usually has 9x18 for under $8 won't ship to Mass!

I think they had a couple of boxes left I will try and get back there.. I might have to get out to Wadsworth in next few weeks to month. I could bring you out a box if you like..or not what ever you would like..

I still have 4 or 6 boxes of that older MFS left over from some old purchase. Brass-cased reloadable ammo is not cheap - maybe the $15 isn't such a bad price nowdays if you are considering reloading.
