Barnett,

Nice setup....I like the way you mounted the scope to still allow for strippers

I like the 59s better too and they are harder to find in nice condition but I did pick up a really nice 59/66 with a refinished stock and extended butt pad on Gunbroker last week for $125. It did not have any bidding activity at all, probably because it was not even listed as a SKS or 59/66. I was looking for a Zastava .22 rifle and found it listed with the title "Zastava rifle-auto".

Norm, you're like my Papaw....can't just have one of anything! That's a compliment, though....he was my hero. I didn't even know the Hun's made the sks. You don't know any wholesalers that have any regular mod 59's, do you?

Thanks, that is one thing I have dug out yet, but I did feel it in there...with my finger...ouch!

So the threaded end of the cleaning rod is for attachments not to screw into someplace for storage? It just rattles around there in the slot under the bayonet?

Thanks

Hey Carguy ! Good Yob Mon ! The Cleaning rod has a small lug toward the muzzle that it "snaps" against. It uses tension to hold it tight. It has to flex or bend a bit to get over that lug and that flex holds it under tension and secures it just fine. If it is rattling, try pushing it in a bit further until the cleaning rod cap fits into the notch on the lug. That holds it well.

Hey Norm, Part of the fun of owning an SKS is "learning" where it bites ya !! hehehe that trapdoor got my finger captured inside a time or two until i learned . Nice collection BTW.

On a different note~ I just got a Tri-Rail SKS scope mount for $35 this afternoon and am getting ready to mount it up and see how it looks. I'll post pics in a bit. The Bristol Race is on right now !!!

Ok Here is My Chinese SKS with the new scope and mount. It is a see thru and i can actually see thru quite well ! I had to grind off the tips of the receiver cover as per instructions, and it went very smoothly and fits VERY tight. I am well pleased so far !
I found another very nice FREE gunrange about an hour from here that gets very few visitors,Especially during the weekdays. It is set up with three distances and very high berms. 25, 50, 100 yards. anyways i will go down this week sometime and see how good it will hold zero.
Happy Shooting Fellers! G

Thanks Caryguy ! Yes i think this is a pretty cool additition to my SKS . I hope it works as well as it looks to me ! Yes you can get all this stuff. As the Bible says: Everything in Moderation. A little patience and you can get what you need !
Part of owning all these guns is that i can't shoot them all at once. When i go shooting, It is pretty hard to choose which guns to take. Lately I have been shooting alot of .22LR's .
I tend to get them "tuned in" better if i only take a couple at a time.
I just happen to care deeply for each gun and i don't collect for the value of a gun as much as i do just to have something i Like. I am starting to have a collection i am proud of . You will too , I can tell because the gun choices that you have made so far are all really nice guns ! Keep up the great work Carguy !!! G
