Did not shoot well today!

Post by gunneyrabbit »

Good Day all,
Went to the range this morning to shoot up a couple of box's of 9x18 ammo. Having not been well for the last week, getting over a sinus infection and badly plugged Eustachian tubes, you would think I would have had enough sense to stay home and recuperate. Not this kid, I had to run off to the range with my shooting partner and prove to the world, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that you are just wasting time, ammo and good paper when you can't hold the pistol still in one place. Not only could I not hit the broad side of a barn with the p-64, I had to prove that I could not hit it with my Ultrastar 40SW and my Taurus model 851. One good thing did come from the trip. I was able to find a 1.98mm metric allen wrench and adjust the rear sight on the Ultrastar, got the groups down to four inches off a rest and they are no longer six inches to the left of hold. I'm feeling a wave of nausea coming on, may be I'm not as well as I thought I was. Gosh I wish I had been drinking last night, at least then I know it would be well tomorrow, right now I'm not holding out for much of a chance that will happen.

G.R.,
Not sure where you're located, but up here in the mitt the tree and grass pollens have been just terrible. Tues. started with the tell tale sore throat and pressure behing the eyes, followed with flu like achy feeling Wed. Even skipped the kids spring concert at school, first one I missed, at least they taped it and saw that today. All this with taking allergy meds. Finally started feeling better yesterday. Took the oldest daughter out for her second trip out shooting, and my 11yr old son for his first range trip Sat. when I wasn't feeling much like shooting. My younger daughter, 13, was suffering from the same funk I had I think, and she was upset she didn't feel well enough for her first range trip. At least I didn't have to shoot too much, the kids had a blast though. Both shot the Model 41 22 pistol I borrowed from a good friend, my son shot my BIL's Marlin Papoose 22 rifle trail gun, and they both shoot some 9mm out of a High Power, some 40 in the XD, and 45 out of the Sig P220. Emily even shot a mag out of the P64 to finish off the day. She liked it, but shot the P220 the best, go figure. My son only shot one of each on the bigger cal.s , ran out of time for him to try the 64, he's looking forward for that!
Well, since I drifted off far enough to come full circle, I'm hoping you're feeling better soon too!! 8-)

Thanks for the sympathy guys. Truth, you said it just like it is, if there's no fool like an old fool, you can count me present and accounted for. ;)

P.S.
Manicmechanic,
Good to hear you are spending time with your kids while they are still young enough to enjoy your time together. They grow up so fast and are gone before you know it, enjoy it while you can.

GR, sorry you're under the weather..me too but I'm not just full of sinus allergies but stiff and sore (not sure if it is the minimal yard work I did or residual from a car wreck a few weeks ago).

I went to the range yesterday and shot my M91/30 pretty well, my son's Savage 22LR and had a ball plinking stuff, couldn't hit the side of a barn with any hand gun (1911, P64, CZ82)! But I was still at the range for a few hours!

Today my son and I drove to Miane and picked up 2 shotguns! He fell in love with a Winchester 1200 pump in great shape ($200) and I found a beautiful Baikal O/U ($300)!!! Now the next phase...Trap shooting...something new to learn. I think reloading is going to fast become a hobby of mine if this pans out.

8~) Pictures as soon as I pick up some batteries for the old digital camera!

Happy Memorial Day ooops, it's Tuesday already!!
