New P64 owner w/ a question

Hello all. I just picked up my first P64 ('76). I've owned a few Makarovs for years, and finally got the itch to get th P64. I really like the way this little guy is built. BTW, I really enjoy this site. I look forward to a lot of good information from you guys.

I haven't decided if I'm going to change the springs or not, I figured I'd shoot it for awhile and then decide.

Before I go to the range, I want to clean this thing really well. Do you all do a detail strip, or just soak it in a solvent? Also, I was wondering what you guys soak yours in - is one solvent better than the others?

If there's an existing thread that covers this, please send me that way.

I soak mine in Diesel fuel over night, take off the slide and the grips WD 40 it then wipe off then oil it

if you take off the recoil spring ,when you put it back on make sure the small end goes on the barrel frist

Welcome -- dinero -- enjoy this great forum & its info from the
members who are so helpful & know their stuff. I use a spray
gun degreaser & let all the old storage gease drain onto a rag
placed in a pan, then wipe clean & lube with breakfree gun oil.

Welcome! There is a member on this site who offers complete restoration, including degreasing and parkerizing and duracoat for a reasonable price. I've had two restored and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Welcome aboard! This is a great forum with lots of information and excellent specialists in the P-64.

I'll bet that you'll buy another one in the very near future!
