Bobbed Hammer?

Has anyone bobbed the hammer on one of their P-64? If it can be done and still maintain enough mass to guarantee discharge I would like to have it done. If it hasn't been done, is there a site to order parts from, I would consider ordering the hammer/strut assembly to give it a go and report to the group.

I don't know the answer to your question. If you have the P-64 with the round hammer there is probably no real need to bob it. If you have the later version with the triangular hammer I can see why you might want to bob the hammer for pocket carry. Trouble is, unlike the Makarov, there are no parts available for the P-64 that I know of, so if you ruin a hammer you will have effectively trashed your pistol.

That having been said, the fact that the P-64 will ignite primers with a greatly reduced hammer spring tension would lead me to believe that you could probably get away with reducing the hammer mass somewhat and still have reliable ignition as long as you did not try to reduce the power of the hammer spring (main spring) at the same time.

I'd have to agree with the above posts. That said ,if you have the triangle hammer now it gives you an excuse to get a round hammer..lol

I would like to find a triangular hammer to give it a try. Does any one know if there is a site to purchase parts from? I'm not crazy about the thought of cutting on the one that is on the pistol now just in case the exercise is a total failure.
