East german Shoulder Holster

Post by trent »

I recently bought one of these, when I first saw one on makarov.com I searched for other information, finding very little (especially in the photo department) so I've decided to compile all the info I can in one place so it can be made easier to others.

these holsters are very economical, I've heard good and bad about them but its really up to the person wearing it to decide, (I like it, they have a lot of potential, especially for 8 bucks!)

(I'm keeping most of these in link form so I can give credit to the original writers)

they go for about $8+shipping on makarov.com and similar prices on e-bay and gunbroker.com.

http://www.makarov.com/makacces.html (some more basic info on the holster)

alot of info on wearing it!

(I find that the elactic band below the holster can be brought back around and attached to the ball that the flap attaches itself to, which acually makes the flap detach easier when they are both installed.)

(more wearing info)

more wearing info (with a pic!...well, sort of...)

Here are links on information on wet molding holsters which is apparently popular with said holster.

http://www.makarov.com/articles/Shoulde ... ctions.pdf
(although it says use WD-40 i don't recommend it I've always been told it's bad for guns.)

I will post more info as I find It, and will also take pictures and post them as well (of me wearing it since there are none in existence)

you may have also noticed that pretty much all the web pages saying how to wear it vary in some degree. I say try all of them and wear what feels the best and most secure.

I haven't decided if I'm going to wet mold mine yet, but these things seem ripe for the modding in capable hands, if you have any info/pics just post them up here

p.s. This thread is not for posting anything like "this holster sucks" I want any positive or useful information you may have :)

yea, yesterday I was at a hobby store looking at alligator clips to see If I could rig up something, but It might actually be cheaper to go to wallie world and buy a cheap set of suspeners and remove the clips from it (more than likely what I'll do). heck once I get those suspenders I'll try to see if i can stick the holster to it! not that I want to be caught wearing suspenders mind you.
