A PPK clip fitting a P-64?

Post by islandson827 »

I read on another forum that a guy uses PPK magazines for his P-64. Does anyone have the resources to prove or disprove this rumor? Or is this just a common known fact and I'm just showing my lack of knowledge?

A PPK's magazine catch notch is near the top and on the front side of the mag body, the P-64's mag catch is near the bottom and on the backside of the mag body.

The PPK's mag is also to short for the 9x18mm cartridge to fit in.

What forum was that guy blowing smoke on?

Well I definitely saw that written on a forum but after a day's worth of searching, I can't remember or find where I read it.

I do remember it was a thread that was highlighting the P-64's shortcomings and not mentioning its high points. Then there was this one member who claimed to own a P-64 and began explaining all the good things about the pistol, including the fact that his PPK magazine fit into the P-64.

I dont remember if he stated that it functioned, but I just thought it was odd.

It was in "Gun Talk Forum" here it is below:

It is a Polish P-64 made by RADOM
It is often called a Polish Makarov but it is actually quite different although it uses that cartridge. It is very slender and I carry one in my right front pocket almost daily.

I too saw one at the gun show and did buy it. It even takes my ppk mags. Shoots great and I can't tell the difference other than the markings. I grabbed it for $220 i think

+1 with barnett3006............the PPk is either .32 acp or a .380acp, the .380 which is a 9x17 has a diametor of 0.355, so we are not talking apples to apples, the P-64 is a 9x18 and its diametor is 0.363, and as barnett360 mentioned the mag catch on the PPKis on the top and the mag catch for the P-64's is on the bottom.

The only other pistol that I know of that the PPK mag fits is the N.Korean type 68 [7.62x25], but the type 68 will not fit the PPK. Just my $0.02 worth...........

Good detective work RedFestiva. I knew I saw it somewhere, but I just couldn't re-find it. I was beginning to think I was crazy.

Yeah I was pretty sure that the measurements and designs for each clip were like apples and oranges. I'm just glad I asked on this forum and not any other. They would have eaten me alive with all the "you-should-have-known-thats and the why-would-you-ask-thats". ;)
