Here is some irony for you!

Post by gunneyrabbit »

Had to pass this one on because it just stinks so damn bad!
A very close friend of my son, pre-school through collage and after, just got back from his second tour in Iraq. He stopped at a small market to make a purchase and was mugged, robbed and shot. After they beat him and robbed him of his cash, $10.00!, they went for his wedding ring, he struggled and thats when the first shot was fired. More scuffling ensued and a second shot was fired missing him completely. The bad guys took off at that point and left him for dead. Employees from the store took him back inside the market and aided him until the ambulance arrived. He was taken to Oregon Health Sciences Center where he was treated for the wound. God was on this young mans side, the creep used a 9mm FMJ that punctured skin hitting no bone, vital organs or perforating the gut, in one side and out the back. The medics kept him overnight before releasing him, he's now at home recuperating.
Hell,
Doesn't that sound like a great way to welcome home one of Americas best. Here is the rub, he's going back to Iraq as soon as his R&R is over, he's active duty and his job demands that he be there. Had to pass this one one on, it was cathartic. No reply is nescessary............... G.R.

GR, that does stink. It's good to hear that your friend will be Ok.

I have my own ironic story. After 2 tours in VN I came home and was almost shot on a golf course. There was a farm next to the course and a barbed wire fence lined the edge of the 1st fairway. A bullet richocheted off the top strand of the wire, 5-feet in front of me. I hit the ground immediately, looked up and saw a kid on the farm with a .22 rifle.
