Prepping one of my triggers to send out to have Titanium Nitride coating applied and noticed this mark. Unlike nearly every other stamping other than the serial numbers, date, caliber 9mm, and circle 11 this one is clear and very high definition. None of the other P64 triggers I have had in my hands has ever had anything like this. There is another less-defined proof mark next to it and a hardness test dot nearby too. I wanted to keep this mark intact because it looks neat so I didn't polish the others out here.
This is the third trigger that I melted the sharp ouchy edges on to make it more comfortable shooting or when dry-firing. I took quite a bit of the sharp edges off and it is a huge improvement. I also did the trigger guard itself which can actually sometimes slice the skin of the trigger finger if you let the gun jump in your hand by accident. None of the other triggers I have show anything like this on them.
I know this one is not perfectly polished. I ran it up to 7000-grain sandpaper to get rid of the visible flaws and surface pores on the surface of the metal but not all the tool marks which can't be seen in the innards of the gun. Notice how bad it is up at the top and that is AFTER I cleaned it up some. The metalugry of all the many parts I did this to on these guns is usually terrible with lots of tiny bubbles imbedded in the steel. Soviet quality LOL. Some are much worse than others. Even on the slides I stripped to hard chrome had hidden flaws under what was left of the bluing which I didn't think was possible. Somehow they used a bluing that filled the pores up and hid them.
The guy I use for coating is going to media-blast it beforehand anyhow, so it will come back with a matte gold finish. I just didn't want any flaws or warts showing through the finish so I over-did it a little.
I wonder if anyone knows anything about what this mark means to the Polish armorers who put it there. It looks like a drum or a wastepaper basket -or maybe a fez? Do the Polish even wear fezes?

Yep that's an odd one. Don't believe the POLES ever wore fezes.
