Replaced mainspring, hammer falls but doesn't fire

After firing my unmodified P64 I followed everyone's advice and purchased Wolff springs. I replaced the mainspring and the recoil spring. I flattened the ends of the recoil spring, got the new 18 lb trigger spring on, everything put back together. Everything was working fine. Or so I thought.

I took it to the range and pulled the trigger, the hammer cocks and falls, but the gun does not fire. It is almost like the hammer is not dropping hard enough. And no more DA. It is only SA now. I have disassembled and reassembled the mainspring and that hasn't helped. I am at a loss.

Advice? Thoughts?

The trigger return spring did come off while I was messing with it today and I had to fix that.

I used the term "mainspring" for the hammer spring referencing the fixes page of this website: http://www.p64resource.com/fixes.php
I guess that should be changed.

When the trigger spring came off before the trigger would pull but the hammer would not move/do anything. The first time I disassembled and cleaned the gun I popped it off. (What a PITA to get it back working.)
The trigger bar still moves with the trigger pull and it doesn't act like when it came off before. The disconnecter arm area of the trigger bar still has the upward tension on it like when the trigger spring is in place.

Thanks for the link and the advice. I'll keep trying!

Hang in there Tim,

I had a similar issue with the spring. You are right, it is a PITA, but once reset, the problem will be solved.
There are plenty of users here with great advice and good information.
