For you first time campers, they don't let you pay for just one night, when I get there on thurs or fri, I have to pay for the whole week-end. Just a heads up. And bring firwood, there is none for sale that I know of.

OKIE DOKIE ! good info Grayfox, i will bring firelogs and wood. Can you burn open fires? or do they have fire rings?
how many acres are there for camping? ( I will just need a place to park the van ,and set a table for cooking, and a small two-log fire.

I did a GoogleEarth inquiry and see the range, but i am not sure which place is for camping and which field is for parking.
Please, If someone could capture a screenshot and draw circles around/Label each specific area , It would help tremendously and i would really appreciate it !! ( I am from Missouri=the "Show Me" State.) yea bad joke,I know,I know .
How many thousands of folks show up on friday and saturday? (Approx. total.)
How many campers are there? (Approx. total.)
i know this is a lot of Questions, but all the info i can get over and above what that fairly plain website shows will really help me to prepare for this long, once in a lifetime trip. So, I am grateful to all whom can help out. any extra tips and pointers will be digested as fast as they come !!!

Ok, here goes..there are no camp sites, you just grab a place were you can, no fire rings, just clear a place and camp. You park were you camp and walk to the show, if you move your vehicle, someone will take that space. There is a lot of open fields & woods to camp in. If you are just parking, thats below the camparea. You must wear your camp tag at all times going in and out of the campsite. You cannot bring a non-paying person in with you. Quite time is around 11 or so and the sheriff's dept patrols the area, use to be a wild place. Try to get kinda close to a port-a-potty,, that helps at 2am. They also sell ice at the entrance to the campground and it is manned 24/7. I have seen people from all over come sleep in thier vehicle. If you don't want to cook, they serve breakfast/lunch/dinner at the clubhouse. Your hand is stamped so you can go in and out of the show all day. enclosed is a pic of the close camping. Hope it helpsImage

Thanks ! that is very helpful ! do you have an approx amount of campers there? hundreds? thousands? hundreds of thousands?
heehee -Yes indeed a porta-potty is a good thing, but i learned not to park"too" close to them- slamming doors all night is only one of a few good reasons . perfume.
i appreciate the answers and pics Grayfox !! i will ask more questions here so i will watch for your experienced answers. Whom better to ask, than the man who has been there? thanks for your time, G

Glad to help. It is really a fun time, the show is so big it will take all day to see the tables. Yes there are hundards of campers, thats why we go on thursday, but any open space (except were they drive) is ok to camp. You will see a lot of vets there, and if you get time, tour Ft. Knox.

Fort Knox is a great tour, as is My Old Kentucky Home, Church Hill Downs, Kentucky Lake, Fort Campbell, etc, etc, and according to "Truth" you just gotta make the Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot and Gun Show and see all the "RED-NECKS'

Garry,
We all understand. I wasn't able to make it at all last year. If you can make it, the fall shoot is great.
