post some your pet 9 X 18 loads
Norm this is a great load I have been using it since you shared it with me .It was the first attempt at reloading and still the one I reload the most. absolutley no problems with it.
post some your pet 9 X 18 loads
I think this Subject should have some very good information in it. My guess is some of these pet loads may have roots from some good reload manuals. If anyone can list a source book title that would be great. I realized most of these may be from your own experiments of course and there would not really be a publication involved.
Thanks for all this great stuff!!

Re: post some your pet 9 X 18 loads
Bullets are 95 gr. Bear Creek Moly coated LRN.
Cases are various 9mm Parabelums cut down to 9x18 mm.
Powder is 3.6 gr. Accurate #2
Primers are either Wolf or Winchester small primers.
This load is very accurate out of all of my 9x18 pistoles.
The information came from the Accurate Arms web page in the loading data section.
A quick note about the Wolf primers, I find they are 100% reliable out of semi-auto pistoles with exposed hammers and revolvers . I have found that when I've used them in double action, concealed hammer, semi-auto pistoles they may or may not ignite the round. Your experience may vary, this has been mine, I still use them regularly but I'm specific about what they go into.

Re: post some your pet 9 X 18 loads
When I first started loading for the 9x18 I couldn't find any load data at all! I did, however, have the QuickLoad software to model the interior ballistics and I set out to develop loads with that as a guide.
THE FOLLOWING LOAD IS VERY LIKELY A MAX LOAD AND ANYONE THAT ATTEMPTS TO USE IT SHOULD, AS ALWAYS, REDUCE THE CHARGE BY 10% AND WORK IT UP SLOWLY IN THEIR OWN FIREARM... EVERY P64 AND MAK IS A DIFFERENT SYSTEM AND WHAT WORKS IN ONE MAY NOT WORK IN ALL.
New Starline Brass Case
Hornady 95gr XTP-HP
CCI Small Pistol Primers
VihtaVuori N-350 Powder 6.0 grains (individually weighed, not thrown)
Overall length: 0.970"
This load chronies at 1,115fps out of a 1969 and a 1973 P64 (both with 22# recoil springs and 18# hammer springs). According to QuickLoad, this level of performance should carry a Max Pressure of 23,150 psi and the CIP limit for the 9x18 is 23,206 ... so as I mentioned before, it SHOULD BE TREATED AS A MAX LOAD ...
With the premium components involved, I don't shoot these loads constantly, but I have shot enough of them to feel comfortable with their performance.

Re: post some your pet 9 X 18 loads
NORM and the rest of you fellows who convert your 9x19 cases to 9x18 cases. The Johnson Creek Gun Club is a small range, no more than ten or twelve lanes with screens for barriers every second lane. There is a constant problem of folks picking up each others 9x19 cases and my cut down 9x18's were getting lost in the process. Last week I took the bull by the horns and light fingered a bottle of my wife's fancy glittery candy apple red nail polish, I'm sure she will understand, and I painted the primed cartridge bases with it. Guess what, I got every case back and some pretty strange looks toboot!
The strange looks I can deal with, I got my casings back and that's all I cared about. Hope this helps some of you fellow shooters.

Re: post some your pet 9 X 18 loads
I too mark my cut down cases. I use Britchwood Casey's Brass Black. I paint it on the head stamp and in a few seconds it turns black. Not as glittery as candy apple red nail polish but a little more durable. ( And more manly :-O )
Also, get yourself a brass catcher. They work great with the P-64. Catches about 95% and the rest just drop to your feet.

Re: post some your pet 9 X 18 loads
I simply purchased a 1000 cases from Starline in 9 x 18 a few years ago. Saves an awful lot of trouble in cutting down cases and by now I have amortized my purchases to almost zero. Never had a problem with Starline and I load just about every handgun calibre from 0.25ACP to 0.455 Webley, including a nonexistant 0.41 Special that has the correct head stamp from a run that Starline made of ~100K cases to special order a few years ago,

I don't load any thing hot any more, I feel like its a waste of powder , and sure isn't any good for the brass

Reason: don't think this a good load for a P-64
