Re: P64 Slide Not Completely Closing
I had the same problem. In my case, it was caused by the rear of the chamber having a small lip peened into it (probably by some bonehead being rough when putting the slide back on). It was causing the round to not fully seat in the chamber, and thus preventing the slide from closing all the way. I ...

Got it fixed!
Had some troubles with my P64, but got everything sorted out. There was a peened down area at the breech that was causing it to not go into battery. I cleaned up the area with a file, and my P64 ran like a top at the range yesterday. I bought a Uncle Mike's #1 IWB holster for my P64 (perfect fit, BT...

Re: New P64 owner--pistol not going completely into battery
That is the slide stop contact area---bottom pic at three oclock. Remove recoilspring, reassemble, insert mag, cycle back then forward and take a look. Looks like a lot of unusual wear there---stop not returning, twitked? The slide returns to battery with no problem when the gun is empty. The probl...

Re: New P64 owner--pistol not going completely into battery
Nice pics, and I see what you were talking about. I would say to very GENTLY and CAREFULLY take a needle file and file that lip back and then see if it will go into battery. I will bet that it will cure most if not all of your problems. seems like there is another thread here that dealt with this. ...

Here are some pics. My apologies for the quality, it was a difficult pic to take with my camera. http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/6894/p644.jpg http://img846.imageshack.us/img846/2766/p641.jpg http://img855.imageshack.us/img855/374/p643a.jpg http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/9189/p642b.jpg

Re: New P64 owner--pistol not going completely into battery
I checked the breech end of the chamber and noticed that the lip on the chamber opposite the extractor is slightly peened from having the cartridges hit it. My guess is that the extractor is pretty tight, and instead of going over the rim of the cartridge, it is slamming the round into the chamber l...

Re: New P64 owner--pistol not going completely into battery
Update:
Checked the chamber by dropping a round in when the gun was disassembled. The round had zero problems going in and was an easy fit.
The gun's chamber isn't the problem.

New guy, new P64
Hi
I'm a new P64 owner, and even though my gun is having some feeding problems (separate thread), the little gun was fun to shoot. I didn't mind the recoil at all, and have to say that my S&W seems to recoil at least twice as hard as my P64.
My P64 was made in 1972.![Hi there :hi:](./images/smilies/hi.gif)

New P64 owner--pistol not going completely into battery
Hello I just took my new P64 to the range to test it out, and ran into a problem. Any help will be greatly appreciated. On every magazine, I had multiple failures where the pistol wouldn't go completely into battery. The slide was set back only about a millimeter, but I couldn't tap it and make it g...
