With the safety off, the hammer should not move unless the trigger is pulled. However, what is to prevent the firing pin from bouncing back into the hammer, then rebounding into the primer? Another interesting experiment would be to drop a bunch of centerfire rounds from 30 feet onto a concrete surf...

It was probably a combination of occasional dry firing and de-cocking, and the safety barrel on my 1972 model broke. I am afraid there will be more to come. The part is just too fragile. I removed the decocking slide from the receiver, which requires complete disassembly. My plan is to replace the s...
