Hello all, I have a P 64 on the way, just won the right to pay for it on GunBroker. Looking forward to fondling it soon. Stripping away all the gunk, getting it lubed right and shooting it often.
My comment or question is, has anyone made or thought of making a magazine floor piece shaped like the Asp? I am thinking that that shape would be kinder to the little finger than the hook. Anyone?

Welcome and Happy New Year.
The magazine finger extension is pretty good as it is. My carry magazine has the finger rest completely removed and even though my pinky is wrapped under the mag it's still no problem to shoot.
Have fun with your new gun.

I couldn't find it now, but there is a thread hereabouts on the subject of modifying the finger extension. My son and I removed the "hook" with a pocketknife and a Dremel tool, and somewhat covered up the damage to the finish with black shoe polish or some such. Looks OK (just), works fine...

Welcome to the neighborhood, shoot your new toy for a while before you decide to customize the extension, you will probably find that you like it.

Welcome, mate - shoot it stock before you go cutting it up. I'm sure you'll love it the way it is.

I agree with dickfunk. Shoot it before you remove the hook. I have had a p64 for over a year and I need the entire grip. The recoil is really violent.

I took the hook part off of one of my mags for concealment purposes -- gave it a flat floor plate with a disk sander. At the range I can definitely tell a difference in controllability between that mag and my other mags that still have the finger hook. Mind you, shooting with the flat floor plate is by no means uncontrollable, but the p64 definitely torques in the hand upon recoil more than it does with the finger extensions intact. You should really shoot it as is before you modify an original magazine.

Thanks for the welcomes and the advice. On to another question. Will a Walther PP magazine spring fit the P64 magazine?

as far as I know the only mag. that fits a P-64 is a P-64 mag.

I meant the Walther PP magazine spring as a replacement for the P64 mag spring, in the p64 mag body. I know that tired mag springs contribute to feeding problems and I have not seen any p64 mag springs for sale. Thanks again

Cool, I am going to replace the springs when I get the piece. I will order your springs then as well. Thanks for your response, Norm
