I thought it was funny so I should share. When I first Got my P-64 I went to a friends house to shoot He has multiple expensive handguns Including a really nice kimber 1911 tacticle. Well he was shooting at logs at about 10-15 yds. I set up a box in the 35-40 yd range and well long story short the little P-64 hit it every time and that ultra expensive kimber never touched it. Just shows why tried and true military surplus guns are the way to go and not just for price.

Yes sir! Several have shared similar Milsurp stories like that. It is fun to have such a small pistol that can show up the big guns. :-* Bravo, and enjoy the P-64.

It's not a pleasant gun to shoot. If you're going to put few rounds thru it, wear a glove.
Actualy fingerless Snap-on work glove works great for me.
After saying that I have to admit I love mine.
I used it to qualify for my CCW, and outshot several cops who were in my class.
Only problem I had was during 5x2 sequence, had to switch mags in the middle.
Every body else had hi-cap weapons.
Still I'm not planning on getting into firefights, 7 rounds in my CZAK and one spare mag
should be enough to allowe me to bravely back up awayfrom any situation.
Kind of like "Brave Sir Robin" from Monty Phyton's "Holly Grail".

Thanks for the post. I now use a weight-lifters glove if I shoot a lot at the range, saves the hand. In a real "use" of the weapon, you would never notice it.

When I range qualified for my CHL, I shot a Star BM 9mm (Guardia Civil Surplus) that I had paid about $130 for, and was shooting nice tight groups, and in fact had qualifed well before the end of the session. The guy next to me was all over the silhoutte - he asked me what I was shooting so I showed him and he asked how much it cost so I told him. He was shooting a 9mm also, a real high end expensive one. He didn't talk to me after that, I think it made him mad.....Really it was because I was taking the time to aim while he was just pointing and jerking the trigger, but I doubt if he ever figured that part out.

It sure is fun when your "cheap surplus " pistols out shoot your friends' high dollar guns. This isn't hard to do if you have a P-64, PA-63 or CZ-82. Then you let them shoot your gun and impress themselves. At this point you ask "want to trade?".
When I picked up my first 9x18 3 years ago, I really didn't want to add a new caliber to the pistol collection. Now I kick myself for passing up all the 75 dollar Makarovs way back when.

I was about to add "or a Makarov" to your "not hard if you have a..." list--but I see i don't need to...

By the way, your experience is not uncommon, has probably happened to every one at the forum.
