Hello. I'm new to the board and p64's. I had been looking for a ppk for concealed carry (even occasional pocket carry). I stumbled onto the p64. It seems like an alternative. I looked at a few pictures, but has anyone held the two guns, side-by-side? I'm particularly interested in the height (length of grip).

Welcome to the board wts!! Here's is about the best thing I've seen in comparing the two against one another.

Thanks. Length and weight seem the same. The p64 looks thinner to me. Is it really that thin? If the p64 really is 4.6 inches in height, it is more than .5 an inch taller. The photos don't make it look that different.

How bad is the recoil? Is it worse than an airweight .38, with hot ammo?

wts,
I'd say that an airweight revolver with 38 sp +P ammo is a fair comparison to the P-64 recoil with the exception that most of the ultrlite revolvers have rubber grips. It really depends on the individual. I could shoot the P-64 all day but my wife says it hurts her hand without wearing a shooting glove.
The size and style of the P-64 vs. the Walther PPK is very minimal. If the stiff DA pull of the P-64 doesnt bother you then the P-64 is by far the best value and it shoots a better round as well in my opinion. The 9x18 ammo is usually cheaper than .380 too.
I'll admit that the Walther looks sharp in stainless steel and has a handier mag release but other than that they are'nt much different.
