Since it's National Ammo Day today, I was going to buy a box or two of ammo. Unfortunately, lots of local gun shops are closed Mon., and the ones that are open only have Fiocchi 9x18 for $21 a box. Is it worth it? Seems a bit much.

I just can't buy 9x18 at over $20 a box.
But, if you want to try to convince yourself to get some, use this rationale: since the rounds are reloadable, and Starline brass goes for some $8 per 50 casings (shipped), you could maybe tell yourself it's only $15 a box! See if that works.
Is it the new Fiocchi in the blue box? Fiocchi recently started having the MFS factory in Hungary make their 9x18. The old purple box Fiocchi was 100 fps faster than this new stuff (1040 vs 940 fps).

Nope, didn't work.
Just wanted to try a different "flavor". Not much in the way of 9x18 ammo of any kind locally. Maybe I'll just get one box of the Fiocchi just to try it out.

I bought some Fiocchi at a "reasonable" price ($14?) once upon a time. I didn't notice a difference in performance between it and Norinco or Silver Bear.
I want to support them because their factory is just down the road from me, but I can't pay double for local.
I don't reload yet, but I saved the brass. It's pretty brass.

I try to get my ammo from The Outdoors Marksman in the Salem area but frequently find they are out of stock. I have started ordering from some of the Internet suppliers when necessary, larger quantities and better prices. It takes a while to find the best prices but the savings are substantial when I compare them to local store prices and I don't have to make the trek to the store every week.

I know I have been bringing this gun up on the board lately, but my Crvena Zastava Mod 70 .32 Yugo loves Fiocchi, especially hollowpoint. I like the Fiocchi as I have never had a single problem using it, as compared to Remington or Winchester ammo in this gun.
I am no expert, nor have I ever fired 9x18 Fiocchi, I just like the stuff in .32.

Just picked up a box of Silver Bear 9mm Makarov and a box of Wolf for $11 each. How does that compare with prices elsewhere?

that's reasonable, you can find plenty of ammo on the web for a bit less (but you have to buy in bulk to offset the shipping costs) Another good thing is to stop by every pawn shop and gun store you can and look for 9x18, every once and a while you'll find a good deal (and sometimes rare ammo)

I just found some of my favorite but old ammo the norinco green box on back shelve with some old 762x25 which is what I was getting.. also it was 9 bucks a box.. that is what happens when you look for the old shops , like Trent advised
