Just purchased my first P-64

So, I just picked up my first P-64 (almost by accident) at the local gun show today. When I first saw the P-64, I thought it to be a "Polish Makarov," a common mistake I later learned. It seemed very solid and when I saw the price, ($189, unissued with 2 mags) I thought I'd take a chance; I mean, the size is perfect for CCW. So, I rushed home to research my new addition and stumbled on this site--very nice, btw!!

I'm extremely happy with this pistol and I haven't even fired it yet! Sadly though, the DA trigger pull is hard to ignore. But luckily, you all have been nice enough to provide me with options for making it better. I just had a few (potentially stupid) questions about that though.

1) Are "trigger springs," "hammer springs, and "mainsprings" all the same thing?

2) Which spring gauge is the best?

3) Should I change my recoil spring, too? (after reading some posts, I'm pretty scared)

Thanks for your advice and for entertaining my ultra-basic questions.

WELCOME
its a hammer spring that controls the trigger pull
if not sure what hammer spring to put in get this kit
HAMMER SPRING PAK - reduced power, contains 1 each of 18, 19 and 20 pound reduced power hammer springs, allowing adjustment of the firearm to individual requirements.
Stock No. 32358

recoil spring I like the 20# it seems to go on a lot easer

and always put the small end of the spring on the barrel first

Thanks Norm...I'll order the spring pack soon. Also, do you know what the original spring gauges are? Just wondering what my starting points are.

Thanks again!
