Just brought home the new baby!
Just came home with my new 1975 p64. Found it at a local shop for $200 in very nice condition. Can't wait to clean it up and try it out. Many thanks to ALL OF YOU for helping me to decide upon this excellent weapon! David.

Listen to Norm..
before I found this site I would get a new or a new old gun. check the bore and make sure it was clear maybe rack the slide once or twice if auto matic and off to the range I would go.
got by a lot but did have these mysterious problems and malfunction never knowing why..
since learning what cleaning really means those problems are almost non existent what a pleasure. dont forget the clip/mags

Welcome to the family. Just remember, they are habit forming.

Hey Gypsydavy ! Welcome ! I have the 1977 model with the triangle shaped hammer also. I hope you enjoy your new "Polish Pounder ! I want a second one. (with the round hammer) These are getting a great reputation for accuracy at long distances. I enjoy shooting mine at cans and balls at 50 yds.
Please take the time and read thru this informative sight, there is alot of great wisdom among the writers here. Help is plentiful and accurate.
We are fortunate to have some very smart men on this site whom have made their observations available to us. There are some really good ammo tests by NBender and others that will help you to easily find great ammo and which types to avoid. I hope you take the time to read thru them . (very informative) Anyways, We are all interested in hearing from you and hearing about your range experiences. Happy Shooting ! G

Thank you all for the warm welcomes. Reading every word on this site was what convinced me to buy this pisol, not only for it's quality but for the support available here. Then I took the time to find a dealer whom I trusted. Turns out he had a P-64 in stock. When I felt the leather glove-like fit in my medium sized hand I was sold!
Today I gave it a thorough cleaning and although this pistol was already very clean I pulled plenty of black crud out of cracks and crevices. I recently bought some Gunk/Liguid Wrench Super Oil. I like it because its clear and odorless. If anyone knows of a reason not to use this on my guns please tell me. Anyhow, oiled it up and put it back together. Feels better already! Action is smoother and magazine less stiff to load.
Gun seems to have some rough edges but I will allow some good break in time before addressing any issues. The dealer has already changed the spring at no charge. Trigger is smooth and easy. Plan to get out and shoot within a few days. Will keep you posted. As this is my first pistol I won't be posting shot groupings, just a reliability report for now. However I can say that I already love this gun and intend to stick through any issues that arise. One day I may be good enough to take full advantage of the accuracy of this little beauty!
Yeah, I'm hooked. David

Just back from the range. This pistol performed flawlessly! 50 rounds of MFS FMJ+P, 50 rounds of CCI FMJ. No issues other than my aim! When I was able to keep steady, accuracy seemed excellent. Occassionally put shots within a 3" target at 15 and 30 feet. Got a slide bite and a bloody left knuckle, guess I need to learn proper hold. Pretty good kick but nothing I can't get used to.
The MFS seemed to kick a little harder than the CCI. CCI put out a bigger fireball. Other than that the only difference was price. MFS is $10 a box, CCI is $15.
All in all I am very happy! Thank you all again for steering me right! David.

Sign of a good woman!
Although she was slightly disappointed in the appearance of my P-64, (she prefers a little style even in her weaponry) my girls next response was "well, you had better stock up on ammo for that thing!"
That's my girl! David.

Glad you're pleased with your new P-64. They are great pistols. It seems the more you shoot them the better they shoot or maybe it is just that the shooter gets more adapt to the pistol. Like she said, "stock up on ammo" and enjoy.
