I just picked up the frame of the pistol that was parted out. My 74 has a textured faced trigger, serrated maybe would be a good description, the 72 has a nice polished smooth face. Does anyone else have a non-smooth faced trigger? I'll try to get a decent pic of both to show the difference.

My 71 is smooth. The 73,74,76 are all serrated. I 'm guessing that a change was made for better grip with gloves or to give more traction for the DA pull.

I have a 69, 71. 74, 76 they are all smooth, in fact I have never scene a P-64 with a serrated trigger ,even though I know some are out there.
I know that PA-63 and the BR-61 have serrated trigger's on them , I'm not crazy about serrated trigger's on guns but some like them, each to he's own
maybe we can get bartos in on this to find out why some P-64 have serrated trigger's on them and some don't

From the looks of mine that are serrated it was an after thought. Maybe an armorer did it for his guys or something. Of all the ones I have seen the serrations are rough like it was done with a grinder and not properly machined like a pa-63. It would be nice to find out some info on this. Maybe Bartos can find out.

both of my 72 are smooth but the the 73 is half smooth half ridged as if for a right handed or fingered shooter. go figure...I had never really noticed this feature or lack of feature till this thread...

After screwing around with the camera settings, this is the best shot I could get of the serrated faced 1974 triangled hammered 64.
And here's the 1972 round hammered smooth faced 64(sorry about the fuzzys).
I'm with 9x18shooter, it does seem like an after thought, primitive grooving methods were used, not sure what the actual machining process was. Does seem to increase the traction on the trigger, while not tearing up the finger pad in the process is a plus. Gloved firing could benefit from this also I would imagine .
Hopefully Bartos chimes in with an explanation.

Indeed it is, I use the 3M Safety-Walk. I've got it on all of my pistols front straps,P64 and P220, and back straps on the XD and Hi Power.

Well there is no consistency by year.

so I wonder what happened. Was it a request of a certain group or department. It is a bit puzzling. :-X
