I have shot about 3 boxes of Silver Bear 115 gr ammo. Everyone seems to be shooting lower grain, but at my local gun store they only sell this stuff (and its only $8 a box!) I would like some opinions on this ammo, and if it is too much for my P-64.

its not recommended to shoot anything over a 95 bullet in the P-64 or the PA-63
you might want to buy all the Silver Bear 115 ammo up because supposable they
not making it any more and save it for mak's & CZ-82'S

From what I've done and seen though, these pistols are built really solid and for some reason each one has a different appetite, I'm in a similar perdicament, the only ammo (aside from gunshows) I can get is 100gr wolf, which my p64 has never had a problem with, mind you my cz82 absolutely despises the stuff (probably the conical bullet) so I've hinted to my gun dealer about that, and perhaps he'll look into stocking something different. Now the silverbear 94gr is good stuff, I did have one feeding problem out of about 150rnds, but that may have been user error (I was tired and probably limp wristed or something.)
but anyway listen to Norms advise, he knows what he's talking about and I'm not trying to undermine him or anything with my post, just my limited experience

Thanks for the advice. This ammunition appeared to work quite fine. I had previously read concerns about gun frames cracking, and I didn't want any of that. There is another gunstore 150 miles away, and there I must travel in search of the perfect bullet.

unless you are a pilot, I'd just shop online/ stock up at gunshows

The info I've read on gun frames cracking due to heavier bullets has been related to aluminum-framed pistols such as the PA-63. I haven't seen anyone post problems using heavy ammo in the all-steel Makarov or P-64.
But I'd be cautious with the P-64 because of the lack of replacement parts.

I shoot it with no problems...just not a steady diet of it. I do like it for carry.
