How do I get this unusual stockbolt off?

At least, unusual to me. Normally the face of these things are slotted, but this looks like a roundbolt with some kind of threaded plastic washer? I have no idea how to get this thing out without taking apart three other things on the gun.

It's the bolt fastening a stock to a shotgun. In an Armscor/RIA M5. The manual's exploded view shows it as a hexbolt, but it looks round. And the manual also provides no information as to what size socket I'll need to get it out. And I can't get any useful answers out of Armscor, other than "We don't recommend removing the stock". I didn't buy a Hi-point, I expect to be able to take my gun apart.

Doesn't look rounded to me looks like a socket will fit it.

I would just try different sizes until you find joy.

Good luck.

It was hard to tell with that lighting, but yeah it's a socket. 13mm or 1/2 is what I'm told will work. Now all I need is someone to bum a socket set off of.

Yep, 12mm or 13mm iirc. I ended up using a 1/4" drive ratchet, a the socket walls on a 3/8" drive were too thick to get down into the pocket.

edit: The socket for removal shouldn't matter, the 3/8" drive was too thick for the wood stock. HOWEVER, I think the bolt was too long for my situation, and i ended up using the slot screw/washers that came with the wooden stock I fitted.

The stock I got was shipped raw, unsanded and unstained, with no additional hardware. Is the bolt and washers something I can pick up from Lowe's?

Do you know what I should be looking for?

Looking at mine right now, and actually thinking back more clearly, it is likely a standard thread. There is very little chance that the old JC higgins my stock came from was metric.

My best guess would be a 1/2" bolt with 1/4"-20 threads ~6" long. Take the one that came off with you.

Also, get enough matching flat washers to make up a half inch or so. If the bolt is too long, it will stick past the rear of the receiver and the action will bottom out before the shell lifter actuates.

Alright, I'll give that a shot.

Actually, Numrich has three stockbolts listed.

There's this one for the speedfeed stock, which I already have

There's this one for the synthetic stock without speedfeed, which has a longer threaded area and I would assume works with the wood one too.

And then there's this one, but is threaded on both ends and looks too long and thin to even be a stockbolt, but that's what it's listed as.

Does that second one look like what you used?
