Just got my M44 from Classic Arms today. Price was fair, bore looks great, wood is not to bad, will probably redo down the road.Looking forward to getting it out to the range. That damn spam can of surplus ammo gave me fits trying to open, guess you learn what a puss you really are.Hope to get some pics up this weekend.

I love my M44 !! Get ready to rumble when you squeeze the trigger !!! Here is a video of me bumpfiring one of my SKS's. Try to watch the bullets, NOT the big pink pig holding the gun ! G

The M44 is great fun. Lots of noise and fire.
It wasn't until recently that I had any interest in the Mosins.
I bought a Tula 91/30 a few months ago. Within 5 weeks, 3 m44s were added ( 2 of them Tulas). They call it Mosinitis.
Total cost of the collection was $296.
Ammo is still out there but supplies seem to be dwindling and prices constantly rising like everything else these days.
Some of the 1919 Browning guys are rebarreling for 7.62x54R.
The machine gun guys tend to follow inexpensive ammo supplies. They have gone from 7.62x51 to 8mm Mauser and now on to 7.62x54R.
Get a mosin while you can. Before you know it all of your kids and grandkids will have one along with a can of ammo.
Have fun.

+1 for that analogue of the merits of the Mosins..I gave a sniper setup to one of my sons after I had fun with it and now got a 44 because I missed the big hunk of irons,,, I mentioned this in another thread dont be tempted to buy a box of the MG ammo and remove the ammo from the links... in all the manuals buried in the print it advises against this...

Love my Mosin Nagants, shooting them is more fun than a barrel of monkeys, but you better hold on tight, especially with the M44, M38 and the M59, they are a blast. I'm at work, but do have a couple pic's of some of them, I know how cranky some of us get when we don't post pic's.
Top to bottom, MN 91/30, Finn M39 with a M28 bayo, M44, another MN 91/30 and last a MN 91 made by White Westinghous [1915], captured by the Finn's with a Remington lock ring bayo.

Sorry I'm typing so slow, I think a truck ran over my shoulder. ;D Went to the range today and got some attention when I started firing off some rounds. Damn this thing kicks, but I think it's a keeper. Shoud have drunk less last nite maybe

. Here is a pic before I start the job of refinishing. Will post more when done. By the way I enjoy a little off topic now and then. You know what they say, Don't knock it till you try it!
