I mentioned this event in another thread and gunneyrabbit said he wanted to see some pictures. I was able to complete a search on Gunboards and located the photogrpahs.

I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but in some ways I am here. This is the old Wolf 109-grain, and that stuff was notorious. People haven't posted such evil occurences from the later 100-grain Wolf, and their new Military Classic is made in a different factory (for added quality assurance? Maybe.).

Anyway, from October 2003, Logansdad wrote:

"I don't use it because I had a bad experience with it my first time out of the gate. Got a round with no flash holes in the case. Primer backed out of the pocket and if it weren't for the toughness of the Makarov pistol, it could have turned out a lot differently than it did. Haven't trusted it since. I use LVE or Barnaul instead."

BTW, that thread mentioned 9x18 ammo going for $74 - $99 per case (1,000 rounds).

gunney, that thread mentioning Barnaul is over 3 1/2 years old, so the ammo Logansdad mentioned isn't available now days.

Ok, thanks guys, I had a partial box of 9mm Wolf and I just threw it away............ :'(

BTW... That site above; www.pistolsmith.com : also has a few 9x18 makarov Ammo tests, Notably , the one by Stephen Camp, is pretty good reading ,tho i think Nbender's was far more extensive and was a far better test .IMO

I'll certainly take a back seat to Stephen Camp! He's one of my personal Guru's. My data compiles information about bullet manufacture, manufacturer, and velocity. Mr. Camp puts that in context with terminal ballistics tests and real insightful commentary. He has his own website:

+1 nbender, and well said. You IMHO are well respected on this board and other boards as well. Mr Camp is one of my gun Guru's also, and I read as many of his articles as I can, I also enjoy his photography, and his collection as well.

I wouldnt blame this enntirely on the ammo. While the ammo certainly had something to do with it, Glocks in 40 S&W have a bad reputation for blowing up. They have even coined the term "KaBoom" for this event!!!

Man this thread is an eye-opener! I thought Glocks were the last word in durability/reliability...and wouldnchaknowit, I just lately bought a box of Wolf 95-grain "military classic"--is that stuff gonna blow up my Mak or my CZAK?
