Here's the problem:
When slide is cycled and round chambered, pistol works fine. But when round chambered and safety engaged- when safety is shifted to fire the trigger does not engage till the second or third pull. If the hammer is pulled back manually, trigger works fine. Will Norm's trigger spring fix this? Can just the trigger & spring be dropped out or does it all have to come part? So far the pistol is very accurate but not as reliable as a Mak.

I have a similar problem.
When the safety is engaged and then disengaged, the hammer AND trigger remain disconnected.
When I first got the pistol, the problem manifested almost every time. I examined the interior and saw a slight imperfection on the inside of the slide, on the same block of metal that the firing pin and spring ride inside. It was on the same side as the part of the safety that engages the disconnector. I tried filing it down a bit witha nail file and the problem improved.
I'm a bit afraid to file off more than I already did without proper tools though.

Have you tried cleaning the internal first? check the trigger bar, make sure it's not bent/rubbing against the frame, which could cause it to not move as freely. You may also try to use 1000 grip sand paper to the areas where the disconnector engages the trigger bar.
