waiting for P64
waiting for P64
Ordered a P64 from classic firearms Tuesday while they were running a special. Can't wait to get it. I just hope it's in decent shape. Has anyone else ordered from Classic? If so, what kind of shape was it in? Oh, and how long did it take them to ship? The wait is already killing me!

Re: waiting for P64
Patience grasshopper. Didn't get any of mine from them, but remember the feeling and anticipation of driving to pick mine up.

I've purchased two guns from Classic - both came through better than advertised. Welcome to the group.

Thanks guys.
I was hoping to get an email indicating that it was shipped today, but no such luck.

Re: waiting for P64
oh yeah, one more thing. Would something like a P64 be covered in cosmoline? Or is that just for older firearms?
Re: waiting for P64
There have been reports of some grease being applied resulting in a thorough cleaning for proper function in the past.
Not sure what the current offerings entail.

Re: waiting for P64
The one I just received from Classic while ok is not nearly as nice as the one I bought a year or so ago. The importer just electro penciled the hell out of the side of the slide.
Re: waiting for P64
Got one from Classic last week, a 1974 - first trip to the range this Wednesday. Functions just fine on the bench (know better on Wednesday) but the finish is a bit worn near the muzzle. Import mark is on the right side of the slide and though not invisible (at all!), it's no worse than I have on a 91/30 - at least it's not electro-penciled. Chromed bore lives up to a "mirror bore" description. I ordered a set of Wolff springs which have arrived so I've stiffened up the recoil spring and lightened the hammer spring. Not a lot of difference dry firing and not really bad anyway but again, I'll know better on Wednesday.

Looks pretty nice kbuilta. I Finally got an email yesterday saying it was shipped. Won't be long
now!
now!
Re: waiting for P64
Picked it up Thursday. Little wear near muzzle like kbuilta's, but over all I'm very pleased with it! Mines a 1968 which I'm happy about because I was hoping for an older one. Cleaned it up today. I don't know when I'll get around to shooting it, but I hope to shoot it with a camera soon and get some pics up.

The bluing solution is reacting with some of the properties of the metal to produce the plum color.
Nice looking pistol.
