The last time I took my P-64 to the range, when firing the slide would cycle but the hammer would not stay cocked. I had to re-cock the hammer to fire the next round in SA. Also, once it fired a second round with a single trigger pull. I disassembled the pistol cleaned it thoroughly and reassembled it. I could not find any broken or damaged parts. After reassembly, the hammer would not stay cocked after cycling the slide. When manually cocking the hammer, it would stay cocked, but a very slight bump would cause it to fall. I removed the slide and examined the hammer, sear, disconnector, and trigger bar. With the hammer spring removed, I could cause the hammer to disengage from the sear by putting forward pressure on the hammer. However, pushing forward on the top of sear prevents this from happening.it appears that there is some wear on the sear where it engages the hammer. It appears that there is some wear on the sear where it engages the hammer. I believe that the problem is being cause by either the wear on the sear, or a weak sear spring. Does this sound right. Also where could I find a replacement sear and spring.

BTW the only modification that has been made was replacing the hammer spring witha lighter one. I initially thought this was the cause, but putting the original spring back in had no effect.

Sounds like you've narrowed down the problem yourself. These are brand new replacement parts from laukart on Gunbroker. They come straight from Poland so shipping take a while. He also has the spring, and you may want to get a new hammer in case there was wear caused on the hammer.:

There are other sellers on Gunbroker but I don't know if they are new/used etc.

If the new parts doesn't fix it you may need to take it to a gunsmith for further diagnosis.

I got the replacement parts in today. Hammer, sear and sear spring. I didn't realize how badly the hammer was worn untili compared it to the new one.anyhow I installed the parts and reassembled the pistol with no problems. The action cycles properly and the hammer stays cocked. HOWEVER, when engaging the safety, the trigger disconnects but the pistol does not decock, leaving it in a cocked and locked condition. I like the idea of being able to carry it in this manner, but am concerned that it may not be safe to do so. Any idea as on what may be causing this?

Try taking off your slide and manually depress the disconnector. If it is able to decock the hammer, you may need to get a new disconnector, and fit it properly with the new parts. There are a good bit of threads on how to do this.
