Wow.
Were there that many Polish Police Officers ?
Do you think half are in the USA now ? (P-64's, not Polish Police Officers)

I do not know how many officers there were. P64s were used by both the Military and the Police (the Police had more as far as I know) so they had to produce many in order to have enough for both. Then you also have to add Border Patrol and so on. I have no idea how many of the 190000 P64s are in the US, but I have to say that you seem to have a lot of them. In Poland there are less and less of them for some reason. Just recently I went to a gun shop looking for one and the guy said that recently there have been less. What is easier to buy is the later P83. Large numbers of P64s are still owned by the police and stored in warehouses as kind of a bakup weapon. They were actually used recently as a lot of the new P99s that the Polish Police turned out to have a defect and they all had to be sent to gunsmiths and be checked. The P64s were used for this short period of time.

So are you implying that the Wist-94 was so bad that the Police stayed away from them all together?

Oh the WIST-94 was defenitely a bad choice, they have not used it much. The Polish Military and Police now use mainly P99s- they are actually produced in Poland now, in Radom. They also use Glock17s and very small numbers of some other 9mm pistols (CZ75 for example). Of course some special units use other weapons too ( for example Sig Sauers P226, H&K USP and so on). Some (but very few) remote village Police stations still have P64s though, and some P83s. If you read somewhere (maybe wikipedia?) that the Wist-94 is a standard issue handgun in Poland- it is defenitely not true.

Most people I ask at gun shows have never heard of a P-64. Some will ask, "do you mean P-83?"
I guess they aren't as prevelant here in Alabama.
It's a great gun, I carry mine every day. I've recently turned my father-in-law on to 'em. He had to have one for himself.

I just received my P-64 from SOG - Hand Select.
Very clean, and very little wear.
Happy I was able to buy one at a good price - $229.95

Nah I can't buy it- I bought two firearms this month already and I am buying another one (a 1935 Russian TT-30 pistol) on Tuesday

That is just too much money for one month

Maybe if it is not sold by the end of April I will buy it
