There are many strong woods which used for gun grips, Many weapons have wood holders because timber group creates it more wonderful and hard and secure, I also have a gun of 1974 p64 with wood grip, I purchased it 25 days ago for myself protection,, There are many internet sources where you can get more information's about real hardwood grips but be conscious about weapons because it can be dangerous for others or yourself.

You have of course replaced the recoil spring with a 22lb. and the hammer spring with 17lb. from Wolff Springs plus Hogue Handall Jr. Right?

+1 on the Hogue Handall Jr.
