Using a saftey detent spring in place of an extractor spring

Hello,
First post here. I pulled a bone head move after doing a complete tear down of my P64. I was installing the extractor spring and plunger and lost the spring when it went flying to the deepest darkest corner of the room. I searched and could not find it. I ordered a new spring off of gunbroker from CEREALKILLERUS. The spring was to wide in diameter and he sent me another one free of charge with another plunger. The second one was also to wide in diameter. I didn't feel like sending them back to him so I kept them an continued my search for other springs with no luck. Now to the root of the post. While finishing the assembly of the slide I successfully installed the extractor using the safety detent spring. Looking at the parts diagram i noticed that the two springs are similar if not the same. I installed the safety detent spring in its proper location and ordered two of them. I'm thinking that the safety detent spring will work as a replacement for the extractor spring, what do you all think?
