I found 2 boxes of Fiocci 9x18 Police (not ultra) with conical bullets. What is the purpose of conical VS ball? It is probably a better penetrator, but I would think it would zip through a subject with less trauma than even ball. We didn't have this in pistol ammo in the military. I have never seen it until now. Any thoughts, Ideas as to why I should entertain buying a box?

I thought we talked about that? The Fiocchi 9x18 Police ammunition is not compatable with the pistols chambered for 9x18 Makarov. 9x18 Police IS 9x18 Ultra. There is a diagram of the bullets included in this thread:

Why don't they call it ultra then? I know that is a diff cartridge. The "police" make me think it is just a round designed for police. 9x18 tells me it is a Makarov size cartridge. Someone could buy it by mistake and shoot it through their P-64

According to Cartridges of the World the 9 mm Ultra is also called the 9 mm Police--It was develped in Germany in 1936 for the Luftwaffe, was not adopted, but was resurrected in the 70s as a possible replacement for the 7.65 mms that the police carried then--it was more powerful, but was to be used in the same size pistol as the .32. It didn't catch on, the german police just switched to 9mm Para like everyone else.
