Springs??

I am just curious about the different springs (recoil and firing pin). I understand the lighter hammer spring. Makes sense that it would lighten the double action trigger pull. For target shooting that makes sense. For me that is not a problem. I know that if the gun were used in self defense you wouldn't feel that first trigger pull. It is a bit of a safety feature if you carry one in the chamber safety off.

The other springs I am not sure about are the recoil and firing pin. If your pistol functions well with the factory recoil spring is there really a need to put a new one in? If you are using factory ammunition is there really a need for a stronger spring?

I am also confused about the firing pin spring. Why the need for a stronger one? All it really does is keep the pistol from slam firing isn’t it?

I am just asking these questions because I don’t understand and don’t want to do it “just because”.

Could someone explain?

Thanks

Thanks,

I thought I was on the right track regarding the recoil spring. It seems like a lot of people don't really notice a reduction in recoil and as far as I knew the stronger recoil spring would be used if you were using heavier ammo.

Since my pistol funtions well with factory ammo I guess I will stay with the stock springs. Don't plan on running hot ammo through it.

Thanks again.
