Has anyone seen this Norinco copy?

Post by ramptester »

I saw this Norinco pistol last night while browsing the net. It looks like a very close copy of the 64, and is even called "64". It shoots a variant of the 32acp. I do like the way they have shaped the beavertail, if you could call it that. I wonder if that will be something that pistolsmiths do with the little Polish gun by welding on extra material and then sculpting it down.

Yeah, that is real close...I wonder if those grips would fit. Still, our 64 is much better looking!

Ramptester, I guess the Chinese were not just depending on the Russians for their smaller pistols. I wasn't aware of the 7.62x17 and apparently these rounds are hard to find, about 3-4 euros apiece! I have wondered why the Chinese did not have a PSM equivalent and maybe the silenced Norinco 64 served their purposes, albeit not with the same Kevlar defeating properties of the 5.56 Russian round. Considering our very negative balance of payments with China, and also coupled with Clinton's ban, I doubt we will be seeing this pistol (but I thought that about the Polish P-64 about 10 years ago too!).

China has now adopted a service pistol called the QSZ92 that shoots either a hot 9x19 or the Kevlar-defeating 5.8x21 cartridge; interestingly, they use soap blocks instead of gelation for ammo performance. This makes sense - at least the soap can be used later, but who wants shot-up jello? Ha!

Thanks for the interesting post.
