,Is there a stainless slide with improved sights available anywhere.Found them for a Mak,was wondering about the great P 64 ?

No i have personally never seen a stainless slide for this gun only polished slides/frames they do look nice polished... and there is a sight mod posting in the modification forum... i hope this helps and welcome to the forum im relatively new here as well.

No stainless, but you could go hard chrome like Norm did. They look great.

Man I wish there was! I am forever wiping mine down with an oily cloth after carrying it.

Plating options include nickel and chrome. CCR's CPII nickel/boron plating is da bomb and the Metalife chrome plating is really popular.

Of course, there are all of the "paint" on options such as Duracoat, Cera-Kote, and on and on. Most of them have stainless or TI colored options.

If you want to keep the original bluing and just don't want to be reapplying rust inhibitors all the time I have 3 options for you:

1) WD-40. Spray it on a rag, not on the gun, then wipe the gun down. Depending on how much you carry, you can do this once a week or less.

2) Johnson's Paste floorwax. (Yes, seriously.) Buy it from the home maintenance section at Wal-Mart right beside the Mop-n-Glow. $7 for a lifetime supply. Field strip, dab it on with a rag, spend 5-10 min. elbow-greasing it in. Polish it in. Depending on how much you carry, this can last for weeks or even months.

3) Food Grade Silicone. No, really, I mean it. Apparently, it's an old divers trick to keep their dive knives from rusting to powder after one dip in the ocean. Field strip, spray the disgusting brown goo on a rag, wipe down. You can buy it online or at dive-shops or particularly well stocked sporting goods stores (good luck).

One caveat - all of these are for external use only. They all have potential to leave buildup if used improperly.

Of course, I've also had really good results with good ol' Breakfree CLP in my tests; it does leave a protective film that won't evaporate and lubes decently. Some people even still use 3-in-One oil. Guess what the "3" part stands for. No really, guess. OK, fine then: 1 - Clean, 2- Lube, 3 - Protect. My tests show it performs well too.

Norm, I will have to say your P-64 looks very bad ass. I was thinking about having CCR do their CPII on my Glock 21 slide. Just the slide, not sights or barrel. what do you think? I figure that way I will never have to shoot a home invader. They would see the gun, piss themselves, then either pass out or run away. It's a lot easier to clean up urine than blood.

don't know anything about ( CCR and their CPII ) I use http://www.elitecustomguns.com/index.htm just don't wait tell hunting season it will take forever
