I picked up a Springfield Armory Champion Operator today. This is the first 1911 platform 45acp I have even owned. I have shot pistols for years but have always stayed clear of the 1911. I am hoping to have some time tomorrow to take it out for a test run. Seems like a nice pistol but not having a background in the 1911 I have no idea.

Very nice find for our first 45acp, anjdrifter is right they certainly grow on you, especially after the second one you get and leave them in the dark side by side, they do start to accumulate.....

. I have the older plain Jane version of the Springer Champion, it handles well and is accurate with its 4" bbl, for me its a winner.

Congrats on the entry into 1911Land. These men speak the truth regarding the unusual way these, and many others, seem to multiply!

Hoping this one waits a while. I have a few that are still in their reproducing prime. Fortunately this one was acquired by the loss of one of the AR's that kept finding its way into the clan. I have several other 45acp pistols but for what ever reason have always stayed away from the 1911 platform. It is not alone in the size category, actually makes a great big brother to my Sig 238 (sort of a mini 1911)
