[/attachment]Well I bit the bullet and added new sights to my P64. It is a front shotgun bead. I filed off the front sight, drilled the slide in the center & tapped 6-48, and epoxied it in. I removed the dovetailed rear sight to give a larger rear sight. The effect I wanted was that of the Ashley Express "Big Dot" I think I nailed it, because now the mantra "front sight, squeeze" is attainable, instead of "where is that sight?"
Let me know what you think?

Nice! Have you shot it? Does it shoot to poa?
Re: New Sights Added to P64!
I have shot it, and it does indeed shoot to point of aim. It will nail the center out of a B27 target at 10 yards. Precise it is not, but for what I wanted to do with it, it was a successful project. Next I am going to do a complete teardown, stone lightly, parkerize & Dura Coate it. I wanted a reliable, useable inexpensive carry pistol, and this fits the bill.

That looks nice... just to be clear.... in the third photo, is the rear sight filed out more than normal?
This is a good looking project for a practical P-64 carry gun.

Eugene, he removed the rear sight completely. You can see it faintly in the second photo. He also said this:

I did remove the rear sight so the bead would have a "channel" to sit it, for lack of a better term. It works perfectly, but now there is a blank dovetail where it was, not too pleasing to the eye. Before I refinish it, I will file the rear sight to conform to the groove in the slide and replace it. As it is, I think this was a successful experiment.
