Range Report

I decided that as long as I was going to give the P64 a really good cleaning upon arrival I would also make some of the modifications I found on this great forum right away. I replaced Recoil, Trigger and main/hammer springs and also polished the feed ramp. This morning I put 50 rounds of Silver Bear through the p64. No malfunctions at all were experienced. The trigger pull on 2x action is a bit hefty but better than prior to my spring replacement. This may be a good thing for future concealed carry. Single action trigger pull is great, better than my Polish 'Tokarev'. The recoil is substantial but I can't compare to what it would have been upon delivery since I got anxious and changed spring before firing the P64. The magazine stayed in place, so it appears an 18lb. hammer spring was a good choice/guess for this pistol. The front sight is very hard for me to acquire. That's no doubt a combination of old eyes, a dim range and a black silhouette target. However, with the exception of a couple of flyers, all the remaining shots were well within the accuracy I imagine is necessary for a self defense handgun. I was shooting at about 15 feet and didn't bench rest as I was more interested in checking out the operation of the pistol after my work than target shooting/training. I'm a happy guy. Again, thanks to all whose comments and advice I relied upon. Particularly the detailed dissasemby instructions with amazing photos. This forum is a great resource!
p.s. I think it was Norm who commented that he has never needed a third hand to reinstall the hammer spring and mag release. After shooting stuff across the room twice,
I had to drive over to my buddy's house and it took all four of our hands. Probably, a lack of experience and dexterity.
