is thier anything i can buy close buy meaning any stores that i can paint my slide with,id like it flat black not likeing the way it it now i hate seeing finger prints all over it all the time
if u have used anything and it worked great let me know and the best way to apply it

A lot of people use brake caliper paint, engine paint, and exhaust paint. The high-temp "bake on" is popular as are the ceramic additives.

Besides auto-sourced paints, which should be available easily to you at your local auto store, there are any number of competing gun specific products, many also bake-to-cure. Gun-Kote, CeraCoat, Molly Resin, etc. just to name a few.

what about that bbq flat black paint
thats used for wood ovens and bbqs
also not sure if u know this but whats the best way take slide off clean the slide tape off the innerside of it so the fire pin and all that dont get hit and spray it

I tried BBQ paint on one of my firearms. It worked for crap. The paint was always comparatively soft and wore far too easily, even after I "baked" it. Additionally, it was still vulnerable to many handgun cleaners (guess how I know.

But it was the only color that was available in a DIY that I really liked. But it sucked.

I eventually stripped it and sent it to a professional duracoater and am now very happy.

Go to the Brownells web sight and get a can of their "Alumhyde" spray finish the stuff works great if I remeber right its under $20 a can. You can do about 3 to 4 handguns per can.

I have used the engine paint for years. No issues at all.

WHEN YOU USE DURACOAT ON A SLIDE OR FRAME IS IT ROUGH LIKE IF U WERE TO USE KRYLON OR WHATEVER KIND OF SPRAY PAINT OR IS IT NICE AND SMOOTH AS IF U BOUGHT BRAND NEW GUN?

It's all about the surface prep you perform. If you have prepared your surface so that it is nice and smooth with just enough "tooth" to give the paint something to hold on to, you are more than 1/2-way home to getting a nice, smooth finish. The rest is doing multiple, light coats of DuraCoat (or any paint, for that matter), letting each coat "flash off" for the recommended time.

I used both Extender and Reducer to slow down the drying time a little, and to avoid "blushing" of the finish due to humidity in the air.
