Hello to everyone glad I found the site it seems to have a lot of information reguarding the P64. I've been into firearms for years; mainly C&R but I just purchased my first P64 this week from AIM.

Pistol is in great condition other than a bit of wear on the blueing at the muzzle. I want to clean it up and try it out over the weekend, thanks to the site I now know how to disassemble it before going to the range.

I do have one question that perhaps someone can answer. With the safety on (with an empty chamber) the hammer is down and the trigger moves freely; is this normal? This is my first double action pistol and perhaps I'm just too used to the 1911 but I was wondering if that was the way it was supposed to work. When I take the safety off I get the normal resistance and double action trigger pull.

And yes, it's perfectly normal for the trigger to move freely with the safety engaged. No worries.

Thanks for the welcome wishes and for the information that my new pistol is functioning correctly. I would hate to have problems right from the get go. I was amazed at how easy it is to field strip for cleaning, hope it shoots as good as it looks.

If you're anything like most new P-64 owners, you'll be amazed at how well they shoot. Then you'll want another one!

same for me essentially. Got a P-64 from AIM, was delivered yesterday. Some light holster wear. Need to change springs at some point.
