new magazine break-in?

Hello,
When I got my p64, it came gun only, none of the usual goodies so I didn't even have a spare mag. The dealer got it from an individual as part of a trade.

The mailman just came and I now have a bright, shiny new spare.

Here is the curious part: It came with instructions on how to "break it in." It says to first load 2 rounds and shoot both. Then load 3 rounds and shoot all three. Then IF that works, load 4 and then 5, if not, repeat steps 1 & 2. If that goes OK, load 6 and shoot. Then it says do that whole rigamarole 3 times and the mag is broken in.

I have owned and shot a lot of automatics of various makes and calibers and never heard of that in my life. Is this common knowledge that I just missed or is it a P64 thing?

It came from an outfit called KeepShooting.com

Now those are some wierd instructions. Never heard of anything like it - sounds like trying to seat the piston rings in a new engine.

It was certainly something I've never heard of. Came printed on a little card with the mag.

Those magazines are the NEW manufacture mags that have been advertised in posts on this site. They are being distributed through keepshooting.com. I read about them.

I believe the new manufacturer is just trying to do everything possible to make sure they work ok for you.

I have heard of guys using that break in procedure on their own as a best known method of breaking in a firearm...but that was for other types of reasons, not mags to my knowledge.

Please let us all know how that mag works or any problems with it! Everyone would like to know if these really work, even if they are kinda expensive, relatively speaking (used ones can be bought for 10).

Steve, since forwardsupply is selling these magazines for $9.95, and the guys have been paying $5 for shipping, I don't think they are relatively expensive vs used ones.

There has been feedback posted on these magazines:

See page 3.

Oh - I see that keepshooting.com is selling magazines for $19.95. I assumed (I don't need the definition of that word) that 918 bought them from forwardsupply.

I haven't viewed that ourfit before. They want $179 for a P-64.

Yeah, I bought one from the first place I found. Placed the order before I even found this site. I've run some old Chinese stuff I had through it and it seems to be OK. looks just as good as the one that came with the gun. No markings of any kind.
