Hey guys,
I'm fairly new to posting on here, only replied to a few. I have a question though. I'm a little disappointed with the finish on my P-64 and I'm looking into refinishing it. I've called around to check pricing on Cerakote, Durakote, black chrome, and hot bluing. I think I've thrown out the black chrome option based on the opinion of the refinisher (even though I think it'd look awesome). I can cold blue it myself but there is a guy around here who offers hot bluing for a real good price and if the hot bluing will look more even and hold up longer then I'll go that route. I don't carry my P-64 often, only when the weather or my attire dictate a smaller firearm. I do however take it with me to the range everytime because it performs amazingly. I absolutely love firing it! What finish would ya'll recommend for an even, durable, and good looking finish? Keep in mind that I'm a mechanic and fairly worried about my abilities to paint on an even finsh whether it be cold blue or a durakote or gunkote type.

Secondly, I'd like to comment on the customer service experience that I recently had with Dennis. I ordered two sets of grips from him a while back, one with the thumbrest and one without. I had problems with both, and after posting to Dennis's thread asking about cracked grips, he contacted me and offered an amazing resolution to the matter. I can't say enough about how great of a guy he is. Outstanding product and upstanding guy!
Also I'd like to thank all of you for the advise that I've read on here, it's good to see such a knowledgable and dedicated community behind such an overlooked handgun.

Thanks,
Britton

I'm curious as to what the problem is with the original finish. Is it worn from prior use or are you just unhappy with the coloring of the original bluing?

It's worn at the high spots and appears to be thinning badly in others. I really enjoy carrying and shooting this little gun so I'd like it to hold up in good condition. This thing certainly doesn't stay under glass so my thoughts of refinishing it are partly preventative.

That makes a lot of sense. I am very pleased with the bluing on mine and most of the pics I've seen seem to be similar. Some of the pistols that Norm has refinished look awesome. Good luck on your project!

I ordered one of those bluing touch up pens made by Birchwood Casey. I figure if the bluing wears think I can just touch it up. I am not worried about visual perfection since I use this for a carry gun,.

Actually I have the gloss black pen now, works really well on the CZ82.... I am waiting on the flat black and bluing pens to show up.
