Why The Different Hammers?

Post by progun1 »

Hello all,
I am considering a P64 to join the other 9x18's. Why are there two different hammer styles, loop and spur? Are they separated by years made? Thank you.

I think they changed to the triangle ones to make thumb cocking easier. With mine it's easy to thumb cock it while drawing, to avoid that stiff DA trigger pull. Mine's a '73 model, so the triangle ones came in before then.

My 1971 model is rounded while my 1977 is a triangle. i prefer the rounded trigger as it has proven to be snag free.
