I made it to the range this morning, bright sunshiny day, temp was in the lower 60's and very little wind and great day for being at the range. First off I had to test the Star PD 45acp after a really bad first attempt, happy to say all it needed was a good cleaning and polishing the feed ramp. It handled 230gr factory FMJ loads great, it handled my 230gr LRN reloads great using 6.0gr Unique, however, it didn't seem to like my 230gr LRNFP with the 6.0gr of Unique. I'm pretty sure it was the flat nose bullet it didn't care for. So the Star PD is going to be fed with a steady diet of ball ammo. The factory ammo [Blazer 230gr FMJ] was giving me 3 1/2" - 4 1/2" groups, however, my reloads [230 ball 6.0gr Unique] was giving me 3"- 3 1/2" groups both at 7yds with a free standing two hand grip so I was very pleased with that with these ole' eyes. and shooing at 9" paper plates

Now for my newest addition to my "arsenal" according to my wife, my new to me LNIB Old Style Ruger Vaquero 44mag

I was using my 44 special reloads w/ 200gr LRNFP & 7.0gr Unique and they were busting the 9" plates with ease, however, my groups after getting familiar with the Ruger were still bigger than I would like, [5" - 6"] using the same stance, grip and distance as above. My next reloads I'll be loading with 2400 instead of Unique and see if that doesn't narrow the groups down some, but all in all it was a great day at the range and with two of my new and dear friends, Mr. Star and Mr. Ruger.
