How do you pronounce makarov?
Went to a gun show today. I was asking some of the venders for makarov ammo. Pronounced ma-KAR-ov. Was getting lots of confused looks. One guy was adamant that I was saying it wrong. MAC-a-rov he told me. From now on I'll just ask for 9x18.
Anyway the only 9x18 I found was brown bear for $21.00 a box. Guess I'll start buying from mail order now. One guy was asking $325.00 for some Kel Tec 380's, WOW!!
Gun show was a complete wast of my afternoon.

You are pronouncing it correctly. Most Russian words are accented on the 2nd syllable. For example, my Russian friends says he is ca-THOL-ic not CATH-ol-ic as an English speaker would. Also, There is a Russian lady that works at my favorite range and was quite impressed when I pronounced it correctly once. Most people just pronounce the word incorrectly.
