The Unofficial P64 Resource Forum

I looked at the 64's at J&G but went with one from my locally owner dealer since they have always been good when I look at their stock or buy ammo from them. Sure, it cost me a little more but the money stays local, I got to handle the gun and choose which one of the two I wanted and the service was great!

I brought home a P64, 1971, round hammer, in what looks to be very good shape. I chose the one of the two they had that was "stiffer" (safety, hammer, trigger, mags, etc.) figuring it wasn't used as much, just carried a lot. The other one was very loose. It came with 2 mags (etched with matching SN's) and the original leather holster and cleaning rod. The price was $219. By the time I would have paid S&H + FFL fees, I think I came out okay vs. what I would have got at J&G.

My main pistol is an XD 9mm subcompact. I cannot believe how slim this little 64 is! I tried the "Mexican carry" at home tonight with both (since I don't have an IWB holster for the 64). There is no contest, the 64 is the perfect carry gun. As long as it proves reliable, it will be my daily gun and the XD will be used for home defense and carry in the winter under heavier clothing.

For those of us already in the P64 fold, welcome! There are springs available for those that find the DA pull a little too harsh, but I have left mine stock. I want the first pull of the trigger to require determination and fore-thought. It serves as a final safety measure for me, to make certain I intend to pull that trigger!

If you choose to dress it up a little, Zee Grips makes some fine colored grips for the P64, and there are plenty of posts pointing to varied holsters available for this pistol. I think it would be helpful if someone posted a Holster selection chart, noting which make was selected to help the rest of us... as it seems some makers' PPK/S molded holsters will fit the P64, while some others have to move up to the Sig 230/232 to have the mold fit a little better. Someone take the hint!

I also bought my P64 from a local dealer for the same reasons. Extra mag, holster, and cleaning rod. The price was within a few dollars of what you paid and I have had no major issues after I learned the proper cleaning techniques.
I have also left mine stock with no modifications to the springs. As tooldawg states, you can dress up your P64 if you wish with custom grips.
As far as the holster goes, you can find some ready made holsters or if you don't mind waiting, our forum administrator, dickfunk, offers hand made holsters.
