Picked up a pair of CZ-52s, and one of them shows some marks on the slide that I can't tell whether it's rust, or something else (being red-green colorblind can be a real pain sometimes). If I could get some of ya'll's opinions, I'd appreciate it.

don't know , hard to tell by pix, take it to a gun smith and have him look at them and feel them . might just discoloration

Really doesn't look like rust on the weapon. Some is flash, but how was it stored?? I had some tools that had a surface rust residue that wiped right off with some WD-40 and white soft rag. The rust was not ingrained in the metal. Then had a neighbor that was cleaning some metal with a solvent and a red shop rag. The solvent worked on the dye of the brand new unwashed rag, left a transparent red residue.

Real quick, was it wiped down with solvent then put in a brown holster??? Could it be a leather dye residue. Oh well!!! Maybe none of the above.

It was shipped with the pistol in the holster. I'll try some of the WD-40 later today.

Now I just have to hunt down a new extractor spring and possibly a new extractor pin. At the range this morning, I had an FTE in the second magazine. That wasn't so bad ('within acceptable limits'), until I had another FTE at the end of the third magazine. I then noticed that the extractor was -missing- from the gun. o.o; Apparently, the pin had worked loose upwards, until the extractor popped free (and the spring went GOK at the range).

Weird, extraction problems was one of my main problems with my CZ-52, so I got rid of it.

I thought weird stuff only happened to me.

Here is my CZ-52 before and after Duracoat. I have one of the old Federal Ordinance Stainless barrels for mine. I also reload for it. The .30 Cal Sabots make for interesting rounds out of it. They are too long to feed out of the magazine, so they are single shot only. If I remember right, they come out around 1700-1800fps with the factory powder charge. The little 60Gr Gold Dots for the .32 ACP are great to shoot out of the CZ-52 also. You need to resize them from .312 to .308 though. They wont exit a gallon jug of water!

Nice, Sapo. One of these days I'd like to take some sabot rounds to the range...

Now, a question to some of the "pros." I've replaced the extractor on the CZ-52, but the new extractor pin can be easily moved up or down in the slide. What would be the best way to keep this pin in place? I've heard mention of using a punch to keep pins in place, but I'm not sure how this would work inside a cylindrical hole like this pin would be...

sapo, wonder how a .223 would do in that pocket rocket??

I will have to look at mine, but I believe the extractor pin holes are staked top and bottom. .223 wont chamber in a CZ-52

The little God Dot .32 cal 60 gr HP's are great. Dont forget to resize them to .308 first.

Sapo, Sorry what I ment was a .22, 52 or 62gr. bullet with a sabot in a 7.62x25 case. Yeah I wasn't clear what I was suggesting.

I think those are 52gr HP's I have loaded here. They dont expand much, too slow at 1700 fps. They act like the 55gr FMJ's and bend in the middle. If I remeber right. Now your goina make me load up some more and go try them again.

Wonder, what you could do if they made a sabot for .17 cal, maybe even get them to feed in the mags? That could get ugly!!

Nope the extractor pin isn't staked. If yours is loose, just use a center punch and put a dimple near the pin hole on the bottom of the slide. That should hold it just fine. Do this with the pin installed. Oh I also installed a Makarov rear sight on mine. As it was it shot way low. Now it shoots where you point it.

.22 Reed Express

Currently we are doing load development for the .22 Reed Express. Barrels are available initially for the CZ-52 and are a drop in component. The .22 Reed Express is based on the 7.62x25 case necked down to .22 caliber, and the shoulder blown forward. Applications include target, varmint, and small game hunting.
