Smith & Wesson has identified a condition that may exist in certain PPK and PPK/S pistols which may permit a round to be discharged without the trigger being pulled. When the manual safety is disengaged, Smith & Wesson’s Product Engineering Group has determined that the possibility exists in certain firearms that lowering the hammer may cause a chambered round to fire.

I don't own a PPK, just P-64, E.G. Mak, and F.E.G. R61.

I've got one and I'm not happy about the recall. It falls in their recall seriel numbers. I looked real hard at the problem they describe and I can't figure out how an accidental firing could happen. The trigger is clearly obstructed from the firing pin. Apprehensively I have sent for the mailing istructions. I'm a little concerned, I would much rather they mail me the part and I put it in. I know that won't happen and the reasons why. Still don't like sending my PPK away. I'm a little attached to my collection >:(

I just sent mine out on Monday. It's the only pistol I've got that my wife isn't scared to shoot. What a pain. AND, J&G is WAY backed up on getting P-64's shipped out.
"Honey, the .500 S&W isn't THAT bad to shoot...."
