Welcome Tex, I'm sure the 64's trigger will come into its own for you especially after lowering of the spring poundage.

manicmechanic,

I feel sure that you're correct. - PERHAPS dry firing before disassembly might have been SMART.
(My hands are simply NOT strong enough to compress the spring.)

Inasmuch as it was NOT even easy to remove/replace the slide or remove the grips, I'm NOT at all sure that this particular handgun was ever fired.
(I suspect that it was carried by someone, for some period, but NOT fired.)

Fwiw, I once worked for a COL, who carried a Remington-Rand 1911A1 for over 3 years & NEVER fired it a single time. = I think that he regarded a pistol as "a badge of office", rather than as a weapon.

Given the origins of the P-64, it was meant as a badge of office as much or more than an actual combat weapon. However, I think that those who designed it had seen combat and were able to give it combat capabilities that other badge of office pistols were not. Anyway, my $.02.

Ketchman,

While I wouldn't argue that the P64 was/is a "badge of office", according to period Polish Army documents, it was primarily designed as a SELF-DEFENSE WEAPON & for CLOSE RANGE use.
(I was once, long ago, a CS Military Police officer & while I was NOT in direct close combat, I carried a sidearm to protect myself from armed assaults by enemies. - In modern war there are NO "front lines" and/or "safe areas", so only a fool goes unarmed in any combat zone.)

yours, tex

Tex,
I agree with you completely sir, which is why I go armed at all times. After having done private personal protection details and armed courier work, oh the stories about that I can tell, I understand why the saying "Bad things happen to good people" came about. And too often todays society it seems virtually the same as rear combat zones.

Ketchman,

YEP. And it's the day that you let your guard down that something UNTOWARD happens to you. = In my case, I went out one day (about 15 years ago) to simply deliver some civil papers to a private home & "walked into" a dope deal gone bad. - Nearly got killed for NOTHING except being there when the "shooting incident" between some local drug thugs went down.

As a result of that MESS, I never go about my daily routine without my trusty Model 12 S&W "snubbie" on my belt.
(Since I retired from LE, I'm a CORNERED CAT & will bite, scratch & depart the scene if things get UGLY.)

just my opinions, satx

Just found the link to this site when Norm responded to a question of mine over on the British Militaria Forum. Looks like I'll be ordering a P-64, springs and some V.05 grips. Had a Mak some years ago, and liked the punch of the 9X18 for EDC.

I bought a P64 at the beginning of the summer.

I have ordered the trigger return spring and slide stop spring from this website and the spring pack from Wolff.
I also ordered a set of grips from Marschal Grips.

I am debating of trying to shoot it before changing the springs to see if there are any differences. It would need to be single action, I can't pull the trigger in double action.

New member here from Utah. This week I snagged 2 Polish P-64's from an AIM Surplus sale for $179 each with my C&R FFL. They sold out very fast, but I was happy to get a couple. They just arrived today.

I posted some info about them at this thread, including a photo:

Glad to be here! Looking forward to finding out more about them.
